It is designed for the estimated 62 million U.S. adults who only play the lottery when the jackpot makes the news.

Lottery Dreams fills a gap that has existed since multi-state games went national in the 1990s: the number printed on the billboard is a pre-tax, pre-everything figure that almost no winner ever sees. By pulling live Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots, applying federal withholding, the additional federal tax owed at filing, state income tax, and, where applicable, county or city surtaxes, the app shows each user their personal estimated take-home — anchored to the state they live in and, where possible, the county or city beneath it.

What the app does

Tax Calculator. Covers all 50 states plus D.C., updated for the 2026 tax brackets. Handles the seven messy scenarios — exempt states, withholding gaps, local surtaxes — that most online calculators miss.
Dream Plan. Turns the after-tax number into a customizable budget — family, house, travel, charity, invest — with editable slices that always sum to 100%, and a one-tap shareable summary.
Rate of Change. A dual-axis chart that tracks how much each jackpot has jumped since the last winner, color-coded to flag the pop.
Live dashboards. Jackpot and cash values for both games, with a countdown to the user's state-specific ticket cutoff.

Why subscription, not advertising

Most consumer apps in the lottery category monetize through advertising and aggressive push campaigns to third-party gambling products. Lottery Dreams takes the opposite position: no advertising, no behavioral tracking, no referrals to ticket resellers or sportsbooks. The company's rationale is simple — a calculator users don't trust is worse than no calculator at all, and a modest subscription lets the product answer to users instead of advertisers. Pricing was set deliberately below the cost of a single lottery ticket.
